We are a social and competitive chess club for adults and young adults.
We are based in Portishead and Bristol, taking our name from the line that can be traced from city to coast (the A369).
If you enjoy chess, and want to play, join us.
We meet every week for friendly games of social chess, to chat and learn more about the game.
We also play teams in the Bristol Chess League. Our competitive players are English Chess Federation members and rated.
We currently play our chess at The Windmill, a lovely pub on Nore Road which runs along the coast from Portishead to Redcliff Bay. It’s directly opposite the Severn Estuary, affording great views out over open water.
There is free parking for pub customers.
We can usually be found downstairs. Say hello, order from the bar, and join in.

We play social chess on Thursday evenings at 7:30pm, and welcome new players. Introduce yourself.
Members of the club become part of a WhatsApp group that discusses playing events.
The 369 Chess Club also plays competitive League matches, both home and away, on various weekdays.
If we're in The Windmill, and you see players deep in concentration, and not talking, we may be playing League matches and aren't available to talk.
