The 369 Chess Club is organised for adults, and players aged 16 or older.

However, we are a partner club to Portishead Chess Club, which is the epicentre of children's chess in southwest England.

If you have a young person keen to learn or develop their game, we highly recommend you reach out to Portishead Chess Club and attend their events. See below for details.

Portishead Chess Club players have represented their County at various age-groups, won tournament titles and compete in Bristol and regional junior leagues and competitions.

Portishead Chess Club has DBS-checked coaches and very strong ties to the Chess in Schools and Communities charity that introduces and teaches chess to state school pupils across the UK, and uses chess to further children's educational and social development.

Portishead Chess Club meets each Friday from 6-8pm (except during August) at Redcliffe Bay Hall, Newhaven Rd, Portishead, Bristol BS20 8LH and is open to anyone under the age of 18.

Club nights are friendly, fun, open and supportive, with parents and guardians welcome too.

Each year, Portishead Chess Club organises Rapidplay tournaments that are an excellent and safe introduction to competitive play. These tournaments create wonderful experiences and memories for hundreds of children.

Children of all abilities are encouraged to play.
